Pumas 14 - 34 Bobcats

Game 9 the penultimate game of the season tortured by injuries the Bobcats travelled to the Maidstone Pumas with 4 newly registered players whom had some experience but not playing for the Bobcats.

The Bobcats pre-game message was to play for the family that is the Bobcats and to just go out and have fun! The game started with the newly shaped defence marshalled by veteran safety (now defensive coordinator) Burn #24 getting an all-important 3 and out giving the ball to the Bobcat offense.

The Bobcats started strong with some hard running from RB Baker #26 but were unable to capitalise on the first drive having to punt away. The defence continuing their strong start again stopped the Pumas offense and the Bobcats had another chance to take advantage of good field position.

That's exactly what they done, a massive run from Baker #26 and relentless blocking from every player broke a 30 plus yard run set up the first touchdown of the day. A well-executed pass play from QB Macdonald #1 to receiver Griffith #89 gave the Bobcats their first score of the game, a missed extra point resulted in the score at 0-6 to the Bobcats.

The Pumas on their home field and not particularly happy to be losing, had a massive running play as their running back broke several tackles to crack out a well taken 50 plus yard  touchdown  for a score almost immediately after the Bobcats put themselves ahead. The 2-point conversion unsuccessful the score was now poised at 6-6.

Back into the hands of the offense whom approached the situation in a relaxed manner, continued to produce the plays that worked with again a massive run from Baker #26 whom took a big hit but just managed to get in for the second Bobcat TD the ensuing 2-pt conversion failed the score 6-12 to the Bobcats.

The Pumas offense took to the field again and an accurate pass to a pumas receiver burst a massive yardage touchdown to bring the score level, with the 2-point conversion good the score now 14-12 to the Pumas and that's how the first half ended.

HT score 14-12

The message at the half time break was to remain calm and do your job (with a bit more effort) and the two Mini Bobcats shouting ‘GO DADDY' helped to drill home the ‘play for your Bobcat family’ message. The Bobcats got to start of the second half and did not produce the goods sorted after. But the defence playing and hitting hard gave the ball back to the offense with short field position.

This resulted in the Bobcats third touchdown of the day a big pass play from QB Macdonald #1 to receiver Marder #17 and the 2-point conversion to receiver Griffith #89 good, this put the Bobcats back in control at 14-20.

With only a small cushion the Pumas offense with some well-designed plays made the Bobcats defence work hard. But an excellent one handed interception on his senior debut Uni Bobcat LB Anning gave the ball back to the Bobcat offense.

Baker #26 still running hard and angry burst out yet another huge run setting up the  12th touchdown this season for QB Macdonald #1 the PAT good the score 14-27 to the Bobcats.

The Bobcat defensive unit, now in full momentum forced another Pumas 3 and out. This time the Bobcat offense in the hands of QB Colosio #6, whom marched the Bobcats down the field and finding a wide open Griffith #89 in the end zone for his second TD of the day, the PAT good the score now 14-34 the game was slipping out of the Pumas grasp.

A few more drives tit for tat but that's how it ended, a hard fought game by both sides played in fantastic spirits the Family mantra of the Bobcats prevailing for today and getting the Win.
